*Always Keep Rats together
one important thing that every responsible breeder will always tell you is Rats are colony animals, and do best in colonies . We will only rehome rats in pairs . No rats should ever be housed alone unless in quarantine or whelping and raising babies. Rats are smart social animals. They will over time develop depression from loneliness . You may not see the signs of depression, but it will effect the health, immune system, and shorten the life span of your pet. So always keep at least a pair.
*Feeding
Mazuri Rodent Breeder
We have tried multiple different types of feed in this Rattery Journey of ours. Mazuri Rodent feed wins hands down. Our Rats maintain a great coat, and weight on this feed all year around. no matter the age, or if breeding. I highly suggest this feed
Treats
All Treats should be given in moderation . If you give too many treats they may get picky about food blocks and will cause many different health issues. Keep in mind. the rodent blocks should always remain the main diet source. here are some treats our rats get in moderation:
dried banana chips
dried berries
melon rinds
yogurt or yogurt drops
yellow peppers
squash
cucumber
small dog treats
fruit tree branches
dried wheat pasta
boiled or scambled eggs
meal worms
crickets
earth worms
pumpkin
bread

*How we house our Rats
Critter Nation cages
We use critter nations to house our colonies together . A critter nation is exactly what I would suggest for your new pet. We keep up to 15 rats in each critter nation. Rats thrive in colonies. We have 4 critter nation cages.
cage #1: adult females, retired or breeding age.
cage #2: grow out females . these are female babies we have kept and are still growing out
cage #3: adult males , retired r breeding age.
cage #4: row out males. these males are males we have kept and are still growing out
why I love these cages ?:
*roomy. so much room for toys, to decorate and for your rat to run climb and play.
*doors open all the way .witch makes it easy to decorate, clean, and get your pet out.
*easy to clean. the powder coating on these makes it so easy to clean everything off.
*durable
*rolls on wheels
*bottom storage
*rats are off the ground

Freedon Breeder Rodent Rack
We Have 1 Freedom Breeder rack. We call our Rack THE HOTEL. this is wear all the magic happens. when we want to pair up some rats. we take 1 male and place him and maybe 2 or 3 females in the larger breeding drawers. Once a female shows to be pregnant she goes in a smaller drawer alone
( this is the only time any of our rats are lone). She whelps her babies alone and raises them up in peace. Its less stressful on mommy this way so she can care for her babies right. Our project could not happen without this Rack.
